The Algeciras market is a prominent example of modern architecture in Spain, the result of experimentation with reinforced concrete, and contemporary with other notable works by the same architect, such as the Frontón on Calle Recoletos and the Zarzuela Hippodrome in Madrid. The building covers an octagonal space with sides of 18.20 meters, occupying the center of the square. Resting on the eight pillars is the roof, formed by a laminar concrete dome without internal supports, with a diameter of 47.76 meters, a curvature radius of 44.10 meters, and a diameter of 41.20 meters. The dome's sheet is continuous, 9 cm thick at its central zone and 50 cm at the zone where it joins the pillars, and is perforated by a skylight with a diameter of 10 meters, formed by prefabricated concrete elements and triangular glass panels.
