One of the most representative characteristics of these festivities is that the people of Valverde actively participate, accompanying the statues during the route of the various processions.
Palm Sunday: the faithful collect olive branches at the San Antonio hermitage, previously blessed by the priest. Afterwards, they proceed in procession to end at the Church of San Bartolomé and celebrate Holy Mass.
Holy Wednesday: after the mass, the procession takes place with the images of Jesus of Nazareth and the Most Holy Virgin of Sorrows. The Nazarene Brothers and Sisters attend dressed in their tunics and hoods.
Holy Thursday: there is no procession in our town on this day, as all attention is focused on the Eucharist, with the washing of the feet of the 12 apostles, represented by both young and old from Valverde.
Good Friday: in the afternoon, the grand procession of the Holy Burial leaves the church. The image of Christ is accompanied by the image of the Virgin of Sorrows. At night, the most typical and devout procession for the people of Valverde takes place, the procession of Solitude. This procession occurs entirely in silence with lit candles being carried.
RESURRECTION SUNDAY: a gala day for Valverde de Leganés. From the church, the images of the Most Holy Virgin and the Risen Christ head towards the Plaza de la Constitución. There, with a large number of sharpshooters firing their weapons into the air, and amid enormous anticipation, the encounter between the flag bearers and the two images occurs. Immediately afterwards, the fun begins and lasts throughout the day.
