On Easter Mondays, Campanario hosts one of the most crowded festivals in the region of La Serena. This celebration is in honor of its patron saint, the Virgin of Piedraescrita, whose image, according to legend, dates back to the 18th century and for whom a hermitage was built in the 15th century, right at the home where her figure was found. At this place, a day of festivities ends, which begins months earlier with the preparation of the floats, carts, and horse-drawn carriages that are part of the highlights of the festival: the float parade. A festival declared of Touristic Interest of Badajoz, which starts early in the day around the Plaza de España to find the best spot to watch one of the highlights of the celebration, the float parade. This exhibition fills the streets of Campanario with light and color, and its results even led to the establishment of a course to award the best float. After the parade, the pilgrims head to the hermitage of the Virgin of Piedraescrita, where, in addition to participating in a religious act, they will enjoy a day of socializing in the countryside. A day of pilgrimage in which the typical sweets of Holy Week and the rich cuisine of Extremadura are tasted.
