Jerez de los Caballeros is one of the twelve towns in the province of Badajoz declared as a Historic-Artistic Site. So much so, that it has been declared a Festival of National Tourist Interest. It begins on Palm Sunday with the departure of 'la Borriquita', marking the start of a Week of Passion of undeniable beauty. The procession of the 'empalaos' which takes place on Holy Monday is a highlight. The events of Holy Thursday, along with the early hours of Good Friday, and the Holy Encounter on Easter Sunday, concentrate the most intense moments of the Holy Week in Jerez de los Caballeros.
