The Holy Week in Mérida is an International Tourist Interest Festival. The solemn procession and the Stations of the Cross with the image of the Most Holy Christ of the O in the early hours of Holy Thursday, which takes place within the Roman Amphitheater, is one of the most important scenes, though not the only one. The route of the Brotherhoods and Fraternities stands out, passing by various monuments located in the historic center of the city, such as the Arch of Trajan, the Roman Bridge, the Arab Alcazaba, or the Temple of Diana. Over the course of seven days, Mérida brings to the streets more than 30 floats, with carvings and images of undeniable historical and artistic value, masterpieces crafted by renowned sculptors. The arrival of the various floats at the Plaza de España and their departure, as well as their entry into their temples, also constitute some of the most outstanding moments of the Holy Week in Mérida, along with the musical proclamation in the Roman theater, the proclamation of the costalero, or the saeta contest.
