The GR 115 crosses the region of La Serena from east to west. It starts in Capilla, a town located in its easternmost part, with one of the best-preserved and oldest castles in the area.
We will pass through Peñalsordo towards Cabeza del Buey, where we will enjoy the best views and landscapes of the route due to the altitude and vegetation, in addition to the castle-fortress of the Templar Order of Almorchón and the hermitage of Nuestra Señora del Belén (13th century).
We will arrive in Castuera, a town where we will delve into the ancient Senda del Rey, which played a very important role in the transhumance of Extremadura during La Mesta.
Then we will reach the town of Campanario, from where we will head to the La Mata archaeological site, where we will observe a protohistoric building from the 6th century BC. We will also visit the town of Magacela, where we can see the Jewish quarter, the Medieval Castle, the Cave Paintings, and the Dolmen.
The final section will be along the road that connects the town of Magacela with the locality of La Haba, where the GR 115 ends.
