This short tour allows us to get closer to the river ecosystem of the Gévora River, one of the best preserved in the Peninsula. The walk begins next to the remains of an old bridge, very close to the gas station. We must cross the road and following this direction, we will pass between the old flour factory and its huge metal silos.
We will continue along a path next to the river bank until we reach a small dam, called La Pesquera, where we can contemplate the typical riverside vegetation forming a dense gallery forest of alders, ash trees, willows, and mulberries that mix with other cultivated species such as the fig tree.
Gradually, we leave the riverbed to follow old paths and trails that provide access to orchards, olive groves, small grazing areas, and eucalyptus groves, flanked by stone walls or natural boundaries formed by thick thickets, hawthorns, and wild pear trees.
It is especially interesting on this tour to appreciate the multiple vestiges that testify to the use that humans have made of this riverbed throughout history. Thus, we find small dams, irrigation channels and mills, footbridges, and retaining walls. The route ends when we reach the so-called Los Batanes mill, which was used for fulling cloth for a long time.
