Although it appears as a short route, 1.65km round trip, the great interest of the route justifies its practice. Both in the vicinity of the starting point and at the destination of this trail, we can visit (by appointment) some very interesting caves.
This route runs parallel to the Montemayor riverbank, surrounded by holm oaks and cork oaks, accompanied by shrub species such as kermes oak, hawthorn, viburnum, and mastic. Regarding fauna, the presence of bats is also noteworthy. Up to 8 different species can be observed, which causes the site to be classified as a SCI (Site of Community Importance) and SAC (Special Area of Conservation) within the NATURA 2000 NETWORK.
The route ends at the "Cueva del Agua", the largest cave in the Fuentes de León cave complex, a wonderful karst space occupied by a large lake 200 meters long.
