Our tour will immerse us in the history of Jerez de los Caballeros, one of the great monumental cities of Extremadura, bringing us closer to its main monuments.
We will start at the parking area of the Ciudad Deportiva de Jerez de los Caballeros. We will enter the historic center through the Puerta de Burgos, then pass by the Church of San Bartolomé, the Vasco Núñez De Balboa House Museum, the Church of San Miguel, the Plaza de España, the Museum of Sacred Art, and the Church of Santa Catalina, among other points of interest. We recommend checking the different opening hours of each of them before starting the route.
Leaving the urban area, we will venture onto a path that will take us to the Albuera reservoir, where we can enjoy a typical landscape of the area, with small crops of the locals and the Fishermen's Shelter, which can also be visited.
NOTE: If we do not wish to go to the Albuera reservoir, we can shorten the route from the Church of Santa Catalina through the streets De la Peña and De Medias.
Back in the town, we will delve into the Templar Route through the Parque de Santa Lucía, the Church of Santa María, until we enter the Alcazaba and Templar Fortress, where the Tower of Homage or Bloody Tower stands out. We will return to our starting point through the Arco de Burgos. Just before reaching the parking area of the Ciudad Deportiva, we can deviate slightly and visit the Plaza de Toros.
The entire tour is lined with numerous stately homes and palaces. The Jerezana wall will be an almost constant companion on our tour.
