This 'Rural Walk' is intended to be one way only, due to its length. For experienced or physically prepared people, it can be done round trip, since despite its length, it is very comfortable to do.
We will start from the Monesterio Ham Museum, a space where we can learn about the emblematic product of the town: the Iberian acorn-fed ham.
We will walk through the town's most typical streets, until we reach the Church of San Pedro, a Gothic-Mudejar and Renaissance style building dating back to the 15th century. In this temple, we can observe a unique architecture highlighted by a ribbed vault and the main altar's altarpiece, as well as its square tower topped with semicircular arches where the bell tower is located.
When we leave the town in the direction towards the Tentudía Monastery, the landscape we will be able to enjoy is very diverse; holm oak meadows, cork oak destined for mainly pig farming, woody crops such as olive groves, fig trees, almond trees, vineyards, etc. We also come across coniferous forests and reforestation areas, which mix with native oak forests. In some sections until we reach the Tentudía Monastery, we will encounter fields destined for intensive and extensive farming, pastureland, and scrubland.
Throughout the stretch from the town to the Monastery, we will enjoy the unparalleled views offered by the Tentudía Mountain Range.
The Tentudía Monastery offers impressive views from its numerous viewpoints. The hermitage of Santa María de Tudía dates from the early 13th century until the early 16th century when Pope Leo X declared it a Monastery. Inside, the altarpiece by Niculoso Pisano and the Mudejar-style cloister are some of the most important elements that we can visit.
