We start on the Camino a Higuera de Vargas, where we pass by small orchards and sheep and pig farms. Along a path delimited by typical stone walls, a stabilized pasture hosts ancient wells throughout the route. We can take the route passing through charming river crossings, very useful in times when the river reaches its maximum level. Throughout the journey, we follow the Zaos Stream, bordered by riverside vegetation mainly composed of Oleander, Blackberry, Spanish Broom, Lentisk, and Tamarisk.
Passing the Roman Bridge that connects the two paths for this route, we find good shade among huge Cork Oaks and the intense yellow of the Black Retama in spring. For mushroom lovers, the King's Egg and the Morel mushrooms are abundant throughout the route. Walking, we enter the 'dehesa boyal', where we find the first source of the route: the Zaos Springs - the Captain's Spring. After visiting this ancient spring, we continue our route among holm oaks and rockroses to visit the old stone huts that are still preserved in the vicinity of the path, leading us to the next source of the route: the Serafina Spring.
We continue to visit the old Colmenar de Caprales, where we appreciate an ancient stone construction, whose wall had the function of housing the livestock and not disturbing the bees. Crossing the Zaos through the ford, we find the orchard of the Santísimo, where oranges were traditionally cultivated, and a few meters away it joins the famous Charca del Horno, named after the existence, in ancient times, of a tile kiln located in this area.
For fishing enthusiasts, they can bring their fishing rods to catch the Tench, a fish that abounds in this pond. We continue by joining the Cañada del Higo, a name given to this place because the Higo Spring is located here, the third natural spring of our route, and, returning to take the alley of the fifth, we enter Valencia del Mombuey.
