This trail begins at the pumping station next to the Circunvalación Roundabout, in the eastern part of the town. A few meters from the start of our path, we come across the Old Pillar and then we will turn left to ascend to the old Pallares road. We pass under the bridge of the highway, and along the paved lane that runs parallel to the A-66, we will leave the road that goes to Pallares on our right and just after we will find the path to Montemolín. Arriving at a high point, from where the valley crossed by the Viar River fed by the waters that flow from the Sierra del Puerto and El Aguila can be seen. We will go from an area of olive and fig trees to the pasture in the area called 'Piedrapatá.' Here the path is quite irregular mainly due to the winter waters. We will pass by a stream, where the eucalyptus trees have replaced the poplars and other trees. Once we have crossed the Viar River, later on we will find it again on our left where there are remains of a water mill - next to the 'Naranjo' mill - it is one of the few remaining in the area. The holm oaks will accompany us on our way and between stone walls, soon leaving them behind, we will then enter a farm. We will climb among holm oaks to a high point from where we can observe a change in the landscape in the form of a mosaic. From the large holm oaks we will move on to the shrubs in the background, which will give way to the large cereal plains surrounding Montemolín. Taking a left path, we descend a fairly steep slope, reaching again the right bank of the Viar River to then exit onto a narrow path parallel to the river, which will widen once we have reached its confluence with the Garrote stream, which we will cross. Soon we will enter a sinuosity of small hills with hardly any tree vegetation until we reach a new stream, followed by a fairly steep slope along a quite rocky path. Olive trees, fig trees, and almond trees will be our travel companions in this area, near the summit we will come across a pillar. After finishing the next slope, we will see Montemolín and the remains of its Arab fortress. Before that, we can take a break to cool off at the whitewashed pillar located on the outskirts of this town, and then we can visit the mentioned castle, its hermitages, and parish church.
