This route will take us to the Sierra de Aguafría, in the heart of the Tentudía region. After an initial stretch along the Cala track, dotted with orchards and small livestock farms, we will begin the ascent through the shaded area until we reach the summit of Aguafría (1,079m), where the fire watchtower stands today. From here, the views are impressive, but access is limited.
From this point, we will begin to descend to a sharp left turn, where we see signs to go to the Castillo viewpoint, perched on a granite outcrop, next to the abandoned watchtower and in whose enclave there were thick walls of what would have been the Castle of vigilance, of which no remains remain, giving the place its name.
We retrace our steps to the mountain pass to take the descent path to the Era Empedrá bench, a flat area at a crossroads where the owners of this estate placed a bench to observe their pine trees. We continue along the main path, surrounded by young pines, to cross an area of beautiful chestnut trees with the ground scattered with countless ferns. We are approaching the Huerta de los Castaños, a group of 5 private houses.
Once we cross the gate, we begin a gentle but quite long ascent until we reach the El Robledillo gate. A few meters ahead, we will come across a new crossroads, and we will continue straight through the area known as Piedra del Aguila until we reach the area known as Huerta Murcia, just a few meters from the EX103 road, which we should cross with caution to reach the end of this beautiful route.
