The hermitage of Our Lady of Sorrows is located on the edge of the urban area on the way to Tentudía. It is conceived as a hermitage-shrine although it has been deeply modified, due to the successive interventions that were carried out over the centuries, especially in the Baroque period.
It is of small dimensions with a single nave, covered on the outside with a gabled roof. The most outstanding feature, in addition to its main entrance or at the feet, is the octagonal drum that sits on the head; closed with a small dome.
This lantern is topped with a temple of the same plan, crowned by a small pinnacle. The entrance has great plastic value, of classical inspiration as the elements that decorate it clearly show. It once had a wooden grille that separated the presbytery or the most sacred area from the nave, or secular space.
The purpose of this piece was to protect the artistic and liturgical belongings of the temple, located mostly in the aforementioned presbytery, from frequent thefts and looting. Its characteristic interior stone benches are attached to the foundations of the walls.
