The Pretura Route of Benazaire is located in the Dehesa de Las Navas, in one of the most beautiful natural enclaves of Herrera del Duque. It is a trail whose starting point is at the Cubo forest house, heading towards the recreational area next to the Benazaire stream, which is crossed by a pedestrian footbridge. The trail continues along the stream, where an ancient stone mill is found on the way, and reaches the Azud de La Pretura, where a demolished Castillón and pre-Roman ruins can be seen. Crossing the weir and following the signs, you reach the end of the route at the Las Navas track.
Regarding the flora and fauna, on this route you can find the following species:
• Vegetation: Holm oak, cork oaks, kermes oaks, poplars, alders, ashes, spiny brooms, rockroses, strawberry trees, gall oaks, hawthorns, water lilies, and ferns.
• Fauna: Otters, river crabs, deer, wild boars, fallow deer, roe deer, foxes. Birds: Golden eagle. Griffon vulture.
This route is done on foot, has a length of 4.58 km and is of low difficulty.
