This route starts in the surroundings of the Castle and the Menhir of Fuente de Abajo. We will travel along the road leading to the Dam for our first kilometer of the route until we reach the Tanga crossroads. Here, we take the left turn which quickly leads us down the Camino del Molino to the banks of the Ardila, where the old ruins of the Salguero Mill are located. From the Mill, we descend along the right bank of the Ardila until we reach the Pasaderas del Vado Lima, where we cross to the other bank and continue for two kilometers around the Reservoir until reaching the Dam. From the Dam, we head towards the Lagarto menhir, first passing by the lower entrance of the Cortijo del Torno and next to the facilities of the Water Treatment Plant. We will enjoy the surroundings of the Lagarto menhir, a true area of monumental stonework until we reach the mouth of the Cueva de la Mora stream. From here, we will descend along the right bank of the Ardila until the end of our route. First, we will encounter as a significant point the mouth of the Pedruégano, with the Cerro Mocael as a witness, and then we will continue descending and embrace the lower part of the Sierra de la Mesa, specifically in the area where the river creates pools and small waterfalls of Las Pilas. This area flows into the large Charco de las Pilas from where the river heads towards the mouth of the Guijo stream after bathing the lowlands of the Mesa and La Mujea. Downstream, the Ardila river will continue its course through the lower area of the Ahijón, leaving on its upper part the Cortijo del Ahijón de Navarro, and on the other bank from Fregenal the Cortijo de Las Herrumbres. After some changes in direction due to the terrain's orography, it approaches the bridge, but before that, the so-called Casa del Puente appears on top, which as its name suggests is located over the bridge on the Zafra – Fregenal road. Under the arches of the Puente del Ahijón, we will conclude our hiking route that has taken place along the banks of the Ardila.
