We will start this variant of the Sacabarros route at the Fuente Nueva de Santiago, located next to the Hotel Fuentenueva. A few meters further up, the sign announcing the Sacabarros route will guide us about the first part of the route, up to the Recreational Area of Alto de la Cruz, from where we will carry out the second part by varying the classic route. From the route sign, we ascend through La Calabaza to the top, where we find the fork that we take on the left following the signage of the combined path of Sacabarros, Santiago, and La Madrona. At this branch, the Finis Terminus monolith is located. We will walk along the Avenida de los Almendros until the next path junction, where the path on the left is La Madrona and the path on the right is the combined path of Sacabarros and Santiago. Without leaving the track path, we continue to the point where this track becomes a bucolic path that descends to cut across the Colada de la Senda, and continues to the bank of the Bodión River. From this point on the Bodión, we will ascend the river, without leaving the bank, up to the Zafra-Huelva Railway Bridge. A gate on the right will lead us into the Cañada Real del Camino Viejo, which we will slightly ascend until it cuts across the train tracks in the area of the Recreational Area of Alto de la Cruz. From the railway track, the classic route will continue to the right along the Colada de la Senda and then by the Camino de la Zarcilla, but in this variant, we will use the entire protection area of the railway track, from the little house of the recreational area to the top of the Tunnel. Above the tunnel, we will return to our starting point, descending through La Calabaza to the Fuente Nueva de Santiago, completing this circular route, a variant of the classic Sacabarros route.
