To the Sotomayor Castle (Belalcázar).

Starting from El Viso towards La Colada dam via the "La Longuera" path, our route unfolds. We will then seek the Royal Cattle Trail of La Mesta up to the "Casas de Torretejada", where we will leave it and continue on a path almost parallel to the El Viso-Belalcázar track until reaching Gafiq, (a name it was known by during the Muslim rule) or Gahete (under Christian hands), the town of Belalcázar. Thus, we will arrive at its castle, an imposing military Gothic-style fortress commissioned by Gutierre I de Sotomayor around the year 1450 and completed by Dña. Elvira de Zúñiga in 1466. It was then that the town changed its name to the current one, clearly alluding to the fortress built there (beautiful alcázar). We will also visit the Convent of Santa Clara de La Columna, as we will take this path on our return. We will leave the Belalcázar track at its intersection with the Cordel and approach the neighboring Hinojosa to return via the "Camino de la Cruz de Palo" until it meets the previously mentioned track by which we will return to our starting point.
