In the gardens of the Hotel Santa Catalina, among promenades and garden squares, with valuable specimens of dragon trees and Canarian palms appears the sculptural group "Atis Tirma", a work by Manuel Bethencourt, an artist of Gran Canaria, whereas born in Cuba. The sculpture recalls the legend of the Aboriginal islanders, such as Bentejuí and Faycán, who preferred to kill themselves jumping off a cliff rather than surrendering to the troops sent by the Catholic Monarchs in 1483.
