The current Railway Station was built in 1927 by the MZA company (a private railway company Madrid-Zaragoza-Alicante). It is a modernist style building, which was constructed by expanding and modernizing the original line in the mid-19th century. During its golden age, freight trains, express trains, and mail trains bound for Madrid and the capitals of the Spanish Levante and Andalusia would stop here; but currently, only the Alcázar-Valencia Regional and the Madrid-Albacete Medium Distance trains stop at this station.
