Encina La Nieta: "In the area of El Canalón, within a private estate, stands this majestic specimen of holm oak (Quercus ilex), approximately 500 years old. It reaches 18 meters in height, its trunk measures 1.3 meters in circumference, and its canopy extends up to 21 meters in diameter.
Declared a Singular Tree of Extremadura by Decree 76/2004, its natural and unusual shape, different from the usual holm oaks in the area, might have made it go unnoticed, or it could have been mistaken for a cork oak. Its proximity to the imposing Encina La Terrona, the largest among the large, likely obscured its presence for years.
However, La Nieta is, in its own right, an extraordinary tree, impressive for its shape, stature, and silent longevity. A botanical gem that amply rewards a visit, even after having admired its more famous neighbor.
