Puente Genil

In the Geographic Center of Andalusia and between three Andalusian provinces, is Puente Genil, where the sun becomes sweet and light becomes an art. Strategically located, it has a high speed station and is one hour from the main Andalusian capitals.
A city with history and monumental, natural heritage, traditions and festivals, guarded by the last foothills of the Subbéticas mountain ranges, crossed by the Genil and with natural landscapes of great relevance such as the Cordobilla reservoir, Los Castellares or the Tíscar lagoon.
Puente Genil would not be understood without the river that gives it its name and which, since ancient times, exerted a clear influence on the entire territory. The Local Historical Museum houses finds dating from the Lower Paleolithic. Different archaeological sites appear scattered throughout its municipal area, such as the Villa Romana de Fuente Álamo, which chronologically ranges from the 1st to the 10th century AD. c.
Puente Genil also has interesting architectural works, especially of a religious nature; although it has numerous exponents of civil architecture with their stately homes such as the House-Palace of the Dukes of Medinaceli, that of the Ximénez-Montilla family, of the Reina family or that of Leopoldo Lemoniez. The Casa de la Aurora and the Alliance are two good examples of industrial architecture from the end of the last century.
In addition, Holy Week in Puente Genil, familiarly known as "La Mananta", constitutes one of the most important and unique manifestations of popular religiosity in Andalusia.
