Catacombs of San Sebastiano

The Catacombs of San Sebastiano probably developed around three mausoleums that can be visited. These three buildings, likely erected in the 1st century of the Empire, were first used by the Romans and then by the Christians. The catacombs were covered in the 3rd century by a flat area (the "triclia") and then in the 4th century by a basilica, rebuilt in the 17th century. This last one preserves the stone where Christ is said to have left the imprint of a foot.
